Laxuman has improvised while constructing his latrine

12 Laxmi Chaudh 1 best toilet
Laxuman Chaudhari lives with his wife and two children live in Rampurwa Village in rural Nepal.  Ethnically, they are Dalits, often called “untouchables”, who face stark social and economic discrimination.  The Living Earth Institute has been working together with a local NGO, Bikas Bikalpa Sanstha (BBS), to drastically improve sanitation facilities and health awareness in Rampurwa.  The project works with the local community to define their needs and provides the organization and resources for the village to meet them.

Your donations, Meredith, Tom, Bill and Colleen, Sarah (x2), Peter, Dennis (x2) and Dwayne and Terese (x2) enabled BBS to construct a latrine for Laxuman. Laxuman is a very talented craftsman, and he went beyond the typical toilet design and for his family built a facility that only only includes a toilet but bathing facilities too.

Laxuman is also employed with BBS as a village maintenance worker, and he helps all the families in the village with the construction and maintenance of water supply and sanitation systems. He is extremely ambitious, and his work is so good that he is an inspiration to all who knwo him.
