Jitendra and Swestha live with their young son in Rampurwa Village in rural Nepal. Ethnically, they are Dalits, often called “untouchables”, who face stark social and economic discrimination.
Because of your donations, this family now has access to a toilet system for the first time. Lack of proper sanitation facilities has long been understood as the largest negative impact on public health. Today this family can experience a healthier life because of to you.
The Living Earth Institute works together with a local NGO, Development Alternative Organization (Bikas Bikalpa Sanstha), to drastically improve sanitation facilities and health awareness in Rampurwa. The project works with the local community to define their needs and provides the organization and resources for the village to meet them. This project also provides employment for Jitendra as he is training to become a village maintenance worker for the project.
Thank you for your gift!
