Bishun Majhi, her children, and her mother-in-law have access to adequate sanitation facilities for the first time. Lack of proper sanitation facilities has a seriously negative impact on public health. The Living Earth Institute, along with a local NGO, Development Alternative Organization (Bikas Bikalpa Sanstha- BBS), work to improve sanitation facilities and health awareness in the rural Rampurwa Village.
Bishun and her children are members of an indigenous Tharu community in Nepal. This community, like many others of ethnic minorities, seldom receives development aid from other programs. With your gift of a latrine, this family can see a brighter future. It will be better for their health, and ease the burdens brought by the absence of these basic facilities.
Thank you all for your generosity! A big thank you to David for donating two shares of a latrine, and Aaron for donating three shares! Your donations are much appreciated!
