Lack of proper sanitation facilities have long been understood as one of the largest negative impacts on public health. The Living Earth Institute works with a local NGO, Development Alternative Organization (Bikas Bikalpa Sanstha), to drastically improve sanitation facilities and health awareness in the rural Rampurwa Village located in a district of Nepal seldom reached by other development programs.
Ethnically, the beneficiaries are comprised of Tharu, an indigenous Terai community, and the Dalits, often called “untouchables”, who face stark social and economic discrimination.
Because of your donation, Devi Kharel and her family now have access to proper sanitation. The positive impact to their health and livelihood is beyond what can be easily explained or understood.
Thank you for your gift!
